CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – A pair of top 25 matchups headline this week’s Atlantic Coast Conference women’s soccer schedule, which begins Thursday, October 8.
The week kicks off with No. 14 Virginia visiting No. 18 Notre Dame for a 7 p.m. ET kickoff on ACC Network. The Cavaliers got back into the win column on Saturday with a 4-0 victory over Syracuse, while Notre Dame saw its unbeaten streak of 10 straight matches come to an end with a 4-1 setback at top-ranked North Carolina. Thursday’s matchup will be the first meeting between Virginia and Notre Dame since September 22, 2024.
On Friday, October 9, the Tar Heels look to extend their eight-match winning streak when they head to No. 22 Florida State at 7 p.m. ET on ESPNU. UNC has posted back-to-back ranked victories over Virginia and Notre Dame, outscoring the Hoos and Fighting Irish 7-1. The Seminoles snapped their three-match winless streak last Sunday with a 2-1 win over No. 23 Clemson. FSU has won the last three matchups with North Carolina, as the Tar Heels have not won in the series since a 3-2 win over the Noles in the 2023 Women’s College Cup semifinals.

• The 40th season of ACC Women's Soccer got underway on Wednesday, August 12.
• The ACC has eight teams in the latest IWSOC/United Soccer Coaches Poll, the most in the nation.
• The poll includes No. 1 North Carolina, No. 4 Wake Forest, No. 8 Stanford, No. 9 Duke, No. 14 Virginia, No. 15 Louisville, No. 18 Notre Dame and No. 22 Florida State. Clemson is currently receiving votes.
• The ACC also has eight teams ranked among the top 30 of the RPI, tying for the most in the nation.
• The RPI top 30 includes No. 2 North Carolina, No. 4 Wake Forest, No. 9 Virginia, No. 12 Stanford, No. 17 Boston College, No. 23 Clemson, No. 24 Notre Dame and No. 27 NC State.
• North Carolina sophomore Bella Devey was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Week, while Tar Heel defender Cali O’Neill was named ACC Defensive Player of the Week for ACC Women’s Soccer. California’s Alyssa Savig was named the ACC Goalkeeper of the Week, while Louisville striker McKalie Ball was named the ACC Freshman of the Week for matches played September 28–October 4.
• ACC teams have combined for 85 non-conference wins and a .799 winning percentage, both of which lead the nation.
• A total of 12 ACC standouts were named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Mid-Season Watch List, the most among all conferences. The next-closest conference had six.
• The 2026 Preseason ACC Coaches Poll and All-ACC Team were announced on Monday, August 3, with Notre Dame selected as the preseason favorite.
• A total of 13 players were named to the Preseason All-ACC Team, including 2025 first-team selections Mia Minestrella (Duke), Izzy Engle (Notre Dame), Annabelle Chukwu (Notre Dame) and Caroline Birkel (Stanford).
• Florida State earned the ACC's 27th national championship (24th since the ACC began sponsoring women's soccer) a season ago, bringing the total to 33 national championships among current ACC institutions. No school outside the ACC has won more than two championships.
• The Seminoles defeated Stanford, 1-0, in the 2025 national championship match, marking the second straight year that two ACC teams met for the national title and the third consecutive championship match featuring current ACC members.
