This Week in ACC Women’s Soccer

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Atlantic Coast Conference women’s soccer opens the month of October with eight key league matchups on the docket, beginning Friday, October 2, and concluding Sunday, October 4.

The weekend kicks off with a top-15 matchup on Friday when No. 12 Notre Dame visits top-ranked North Carolina for a 6 p.m. ET start on ACC Network. The Fighting Irish enter Friday as the lone remaining unbeaten ACC team at 4-0-6, while the Tar Heels have won seven straight matches. Friday’s contest will be the first meeting between the teams since a seven-goal thriller on September 24, 2025, with Notre Dame edging North Carolina, 4-3.

ACCN will also broadcast Florida State at No. 23 Clemson on Sunday at 3 p.m. ET. The Seminoles look to snap a three-match winless streak, playing to a draw in each contest, while the Tigers have won two of their last three matches and returned to the Top 25 for the first time since September 8.

Noting ACC Women’s Soccer
• The 40th season of ACC Women's Soccer got underway on Wednesday, August 12.
• The ACC has eight teams in the latest IWSOC/United Soccer Coaches Poll, the most in the nation.
• The poll includes No. 1 North Carolina, No. 4 Wake Forest, No. 6 Duke, No. 8 Stanford, No. 12 Notre Dame, No. 15 Virginia, No. 23 Clemson and No. 25 Louisville. Florida State is receiving votes.
• Nine ACC teams are also ranked among the top 30 of the RPI, tied for the most in the nation.
• The RPI top 30 includes No. 3 North Carolina, No. 5 Wake Forest, No. 8 Virginia, No. 10 Stanford, No. 16 Clemson, No. 19 Boston College, No. 25 NC State, No. 27 Notre Dame and No. 28 Duke.
• North Carolina sophomore Bella Devey was named the ACC Offensive Player of the Week, while California senior Malia McMahon and NC State fifth-year Alex Mohr shared ACC Defensive Player of the Week honors. SMU senior Aubrey Brown was named the ACC Goalkeeper of the Week, while Wolfpack goalkeeper Amor Leigh Martin Esteban was named the ACC Freshman of the Week for matches played September 21-27.
• SMU goalkeeper Aubrey Brown and Duke defender Jocelyn Travers were named to the TopDrawerSoccer Team of the Week.
• ACC teams have combined for 85 non-conference wins and a .799 winning percentage, both of which lead the nation.
• The 2026 Preseason ACC Coaches Poll and All-ACC Team were announced on Monday, August 3, with Notre Dame selected as the preseason favorite.
• A total of 13 players were named to the Preseason All-ACC Team, including 2025 first-team selections Mia Minestrella (Duke), Izzy Engle (Notre Dame), Annabelle Chukwu (Notre Dame) and Caroline Birkel (Stanford).
• Florida State earned the ACC's 27th national championship (24th since the ACC began sponsoring women's soccer) a season ago, bringing the total to 33 national championships among current ACC institutions. No school outside the ACC has won more than two championships.
• The Seminoles defeated Stanford, 1-0, in the 2025 national championship match, marking the second straight year that two ACC teams met for the national title and the third consecutive championship match featuring current ACC members.
• A total of 14 ACC standouts were named to the Hermann Trophy Watch List.
