CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) - Week 6 of Seven Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Soccer league play features seven matches, running Friday through Sunday. The weekend is capped by a top-15 matchup as No. 5 Clemson heads west to play No. 13 Stanford on Sunday at 9 p.m. ET.
Top-ranked SMU, the lone team to capture the full three points in every league match this season, returns home to play Duke on Friday at 7 p.m. ET. The Mustangs are 9-0-1 this season, including a perfect 4-0-0 in ACC action.
Virginia Tech, which rose to second in the league standings after a 2-1 road win over rival Virginia last weekend, travels to No. 10 Pitt on Friday at 7 p.m. ET.
NC State has a stiff non-conference test on Sunday, playing host to No. 4 UMKC at 6 p.m. ET.
Five ACC teams are ranked in the latest United Soccer Coaches Poll. That is second most of any league: No. 1 SMU, No. 5 Clemson, No. 10 Pitt, No. 11 Louisville and No. 13 Stanford.

Noting ACC Men's Soccer
• SMU stands No. 1 nationally this week for the second straight week. ACC teams have held the No. 1 ranking in six of seven polls this season (Stanford for four weeks).
• In the latest NCAA RPI of the season, released Thursday, seven ACC teams are among the top 30, which is the most of any conference: Clemson (4), SMU (5), Pitt (6), Louisville (15), Syracuse (27), Notre Dame (29) and Wake Forest (30).
• SMU (9-0-1) is one of five teams nationally that have yet to lose a match this season. The Mustangs lead the nation in scoring defense (0.3) this season.
• ACC teams are 67-18-15 (.745) against non-conference competition this season. The winning percentage and total number of wins both are the best of any conference.
• Virginia head coach George Gelnovatch won his 400th career match on Tuesday against Queens. He joined Duke's John Rennie (1979-2007, 410 wins) as the ACC's lone men's soccer coaches to win 400 career games.
• Since Sept. 1, league teams have posted a 33-4-7 (.830) record against non-conference foes.
• North Carolina's Joschi Schelb earned ACC Offensive Player of the Week honors, while Virginia Tech's Diego Dauzier picked up ACC Defensive Player of the Week honors for matches played from Sept. 28-Oct. 4.
• Schelb and Clemson's Ransford Gyan are tied for the league lead and third nationally in goals this season with nine apiece.
• League programs have scored three wins against top-five foes: Stanford vs. No. 2 San Diego, Clemson vs. No. 3 Furman, SMU at No. 4 Saint Louis.
• NC State was chosen as the favorite to win the 2026 ACC Championship following a vote of the league’s 15 head coaches. The Wolfpack were picked as the ACC favorite on eight of the coaches’ ballots.
• Six active ACC head coaches have won D-I national championships as a head coach: Mike Noonan (Clemson), Carlos Somoano (UNC), Jay Vidovich (Pitt), Jeremy Gunn (Stanford), Ian McIntyre (Syracuse) and George Gelnovatch (Virginia). NC State's Marc Hubbard won a Division II national title in 2013.
• Nine ACC teams earned berths in the 2025 NCAA Championship, including four teams among the 16 seeded teams. Both totals were most of any league.
• With NC State advancing to the national championship game in 2025, at least one ACC team has reached the Men's College Cup in 23 of the last 25 seasons.
• ACC teams have won 20 NCAA men’s soccer championships, with 11 since 2001, including three of the last five (Clemson 2021, Syracuse 2022, Clemson 2023).
