This Week in ACC Indoor Track & Field

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – With under two weeks until the 2026 Atlantic Coast Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships in Boston, teams are putting the final touches on their regular-season slates.
 
The Virginia Tech Challenge will feature the Hokies, along with North Carolina, NC State and Virginia. In addition to the Virginia Tech Challenge, the Cavaliers will also compete in the JDL Last Chance Invitational in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and the Saucony Battle for Boston in Boston, Massachusetts.
 
Also in Boston, Wake Forest will compete in the DMR Challenge Last Chance Meet, while Boston College and Virginia Tech will battle in the Terrier DMR Challenge.
 
In South Bend, Indiana, Notre Dame will host the Alex Wilson Invitational. The Fighting Irish will be joined by North Carolina for the one-day meet on Saturday, February 21. Syracuse will travel to Ithaca, New York, for the Marc Deneault Memorial Invitational, hosted by Cornell.
 
The 2026 ACC Indoor Track & Field Championships will begin on Thursday, February 26, and run through Saturday, February 28, at the TRACK at new balance in Boston. The three-day championship will be free to the public to attend.

Noting ACC Indoor Track & Field
  • Former North Carolina standout Parker Wolfe placed 12th at the World Cross Country Championships – the best finish by an American since 2017. 
  • Clemson’s Gladys Chepngetich broke the ACC record in the women’s 800-meter run with a time of 1:58.81. Her mark is also the second-fastest in collegiate history.  
  • Florida State’s Shenese Walker broke the ACC record in the 60-meter dash, clocking a time of 7.09 seconds at the Razorback Invitational. Her time leads the nation and is the fifth-fastest in the world this year. 
  • Virginia’s Gary Martin broke the ACC record in the men’s 5000-meter run in his season-opening performance. His time of 13:05.57 is the sixth-fastest in NCAA history. 
  • A pair of ACC records fell during competitions on February 13-14. The Miami men’s 4x400-meter relay team posted a conference-record time of 3:04.11 at the Tiger Paw Invitational, while NC State freshman Sadie Engelhardt broke the ACC record in the women’s mile, clocking in at 4:23.84.
