CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – With five teams entering the week tied for second place in the Atlantic Coast Conference Baseball standings, the weekend of Thursday, March 26, through Sunday, March 29, could prove to be a critical weekend down the road. Four of those teams will square off this weekend, starting with No. 13 North Carolina, which will travel to South Bend, Indiana, to face No. 23 Notre Dame, beginning on Friday, March 27, at 4:30 p.m. ET.
The series between the Tar Heels and Fighting Irish will be the first top-25 series in South Bend since May 2021. The Tar Heels have won nine of their last 10 games, while Notre Dame is coming off a sweep of then-No. 19 Clemson and a midweek victory over Western Michigan.
In a battle of second-place teams, Boston College will welcome No. 9 Virginia to the northeast for a three-game set. Boston College is coming off its first conference sweep in 18 series after taking all three games from California last weekend. The Cavaliers and Eagles will begin on Friday at 3 p.m. ET.
Miami will travel to Clemson, South Carolina, to square off with the Tigers, beginning on Thursday at 7 p.m. ET. Both Thursday and Friday’s game between the Hurricanes and Tigers will be televised on ACC Network.
Atlanta, Georgia, will play host to a top-15 series when No. 14 NC State travels to take on No. 3 Georgia Tech. The series opens on Friday at 7 p.m. ET, with both Saturday and Sunday’s games being televised on ACC Network.
Duke heads south to Tallahassee, Florida, for three games against No. 10 Florida State. The Seminoles are coming off a series win over NC State, while Duke looks to bounce back after dropping an ACC series to Virginia Tech.
Both California and Stanford will make the trip to the East Coast in the fourth weekend of conference play. The Golden Bears will head to Winston-Salem, North Carolina, to take on Wake Forest, while the Cardinal will travel to Blacksburg, Virginia, for three games against Virginia Tech. Both series start on Friday at 6 p.m. ET.
Louisville will host Pitt for three games, beginning on Friday at 6 p.m. ET.
Noting ACC Baseball
- Two ACC series will feature a pair of top-25 teams this weekend. No. 23 Notre Dame will host No. 13 North Carolina, while No. 14 NC State will travel to Atlanta to square off with No. 3 Georgia Tech. Both series begin on Friday, March 20.
- The series between the Tar Heels and Fighting Irish will be the first top-25 series in South Bend since May 2021.
- Notre Dame jumped into the D1Baseball rankings after sweeping then-No. 19 Clemson last weekend - its first sweep against a ranked opponent since April 2023 vs. Virginia.
- Of the seven teams throughout the country that are scoring at least 10.0 runs per game, four play in the ACC – Georgia Tech (11.5), Miami (10.6), Pitt (10.4), and Virginia (10.3). No other conference has more than one team scoring in double figures.
- Six ACC Baseball teams are ranked in the most recent D1Baseball Top 25. Georgia Tech, which also topped the 2026 ACC Baseball Preseason Coaches Poll, is ranked No. 3, followed by No. 9 Virginia, No. 10 Florida State, No. 13 North Carolina, No. 14 NC State and No. 23 Notre Dame.
- Duke is stealing bases at a record-smashing pace. The Blue Devils’ program record for stolen bases in a season is 106, set in 1981. Entering the week, Duke has swiped 105 bases (3.89/game) this season.
- Entering the week, 10 ACC teams rank in the top 40 of the RPI rankings. Florida State leads the ACC at No. 4, followed by No. 6 Virginia, No. 18 Notre Dame, No. 20 North Carolina, No. 22 Georgia Tech, No. 25 Virginia Tech, No. 29 Wake Forest, No. 32 Clemson, No. 33 Boston College and No. 36 Pitt.
- The ACC has posted a non-conference record of 210-60 this season. The ACC’s .778 non-conference winning percentage is second-best nationally.
- Boston College completed its first sweep in ACC play in 18 series, dating back to March 2024, by taking down California in all three games last weekend.
- Through the first six weekends of the BBCOR era (since 2011), no Power 4 team has a higher batting average (.372), on-base percentage (.496) or scoring average (11.5 runs/game) than 2026 Georgia Tech.
