WILMINGTON, N.C. (theACC.com) – Top-seeded Stanford and second-seeded SMU claimed semifinal victories to earn spots in the match play championship Saturday at Porters Neck Country Club.

The Cardinal and Mustangs will meet for the title on Sunday, April 19, as both teams seek their first ACC women’s golf championship. The action from Wilmington, North Carolina, is slated for 9 a.m. ET on ACC Network Extra.

Stanford punched its ticket to the final with a 3-0 victory over fourth-seeded Duke, as the Cardinal’s top three players, Meja Örtengren (3&2), Megha Ganne (3&2) and Andrea Revuelta (5&4), secured the win. Rianna Malixi, who led the Blue Devils to a 3-1 win over fifth-seeded NC State earlier in the day, was 4-up when the match was clinched.

SMU advanced to the final with a 3-1 win over sixth-seeded North Carolina. Grace Jin (3&2), Celine Chen (4&3) and Kirra St. Laurent (5&4) secured victories in the Mustangs’ first-ever appearance in match play at the ACC Women’s Golf Championship. The Tar Heels, who upset third-seeded Wake Forest in the first round, got their point from Reagan Southerland, who won 2&1 for UNC’s lone point.

Sunday’s final will mark the second straight year a first-time champion will be crowned after Florida State won its first-ever ACC title a year ago. Both Stanford and SMU earned their first-ever match-play wins at the ACC Championship. Ryan Burr and Julia Johnson will have the call on ACCNX beginning at 9 a.m. ET.
