CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – North Carolina won the 2026 Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Lacrosse Championship on Sunday, April 26, following a 12-8 victory over Stanford at American Legion Memorial Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina. The top-seeded Tar Heels (16-1) won their second straight ACC Championship and ninth in program history.
North Carolina’s Chloe Humphrey was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player for the second straight season after recording a tournament-record 21 points, with 13 goals and eight assists. Humphrey scored four goals and tallied a pair of assists in the championship game win.
Humphrey was joined on the All-Tournament Team by teammates Sarah Gresham, Kaleigh Harden and Addison Pattillo. Ava Arceri, Rylee Bouvier and Aliya Polisky were named to the All-Tournament Team for No. 2 Stanford (15-4), which was making its first appearance in the ACC Championship Game.
Stanford pulled within 5-4 with 12:02 left in the second quarter on an Arceri goal, but UNC methodically pulled away, limiting the Cardinal to one goal over a 25-minute span. Humphrey’s goal at the 7:55 mark of the third quarter capped the scoring in that run and gave the Tar Heels an 11-5 edge.
The Cardinal fought back and cut the lead in half with three straight goals, culminating in an Arceri tally at the 9:35 mark of the fourth quarter, but UNC held Stanford scoreless the rest of the way.
Pattillo and Levy each notched hat tricks for North Carolina. Arceri recorded a hat trick for Stanford, while Bouvier scored a pair of goals.
The 29-team field for the NCAA Tournament will be announced on Sunday, May 3, at 9 p.m. ET on ESPNU. The championship gets underway with 13 games at host sites on Friday, May 8.
