CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Conference play officially gets underway in Atlantic Coast Conference women’s soccer this week with nine league matchups beginning Thursday, September 10, and concluding Sunday, September 13.
Of the nine conference contests on tap this week, two are top-25 matchups, beginning on Saturday, September 12, when No. 10 Virginia heads to No. 3 Wake Forest for a 7 p.m. ET kickoff on ACC Network Extra. The Cavaliers are coming off back-to-back draws against No. 10 Tennessee (1-1) and Georgetown (0-0), while Wake Forest has started the season a perfect 7-0. Impressively, the Demon Deacons shut out their first six opponents before allowing their first goal of the season in a 2-1 win over No. 21 Florida last Sunday.
The weekend concludes when top-ranked Stanford travels east to face No. 3 Duke for a noon ET kickoff on ACC Network. The Cardinal held onto its No. 1 ranking for the fifth consecutive week despite settling for a 2-2 draw with USC last Thursday. The Blue Devils, who have not played since a 6-0 win over VCU on August 30, are 5-0-1 and have won four consecutive matches.
Seven ACC teams remain undefeated this season, while the conference is 81-12-25 (.792) on the year, representing the most victories and highest winning percentage of any league.

Noting ACC Women’s Soccer
• The 40th season of ACC Women's Soccer got underway on Wednesday, August 12.
• The ACC has seven teams in the latest IWSOC/United Soccer Coaches Poll, the most in the nation.
• The poll includes No. 1 Stanford, No. 3 Duke, No. 3 Wake Forest, No. 7 North Carolina, No. 10 Virginia, No. 15 Florida State and No. 24 Clemson. Notre Dame and Virginia Tech are receiving votes.
• Pitt sophomore Adi Bianchin was named the ACC Offensive Player of the Week, while Wake Forest defender Sierra Sythe was selected as the ACC Defensive Player of the Week. Florida State sophomore Kate Ockene was named the ACC Goalkeeper of the Week, while SMU striker Julianne Richter was named the ACC Freshman of the Week for matches played August 31–September 6.
• Pitt's Adi Bianchin, SMU's Brooke Bunton and Wake Forest's Sierra Sythe were named to the TopDrawerSoccer Team of the Week.
• ACC teams have combined for 81 non-conference wins and a .792 winning percentage, both marks lead the country.
• The 2026 Preseason ACC Coaches Poll and All-ACC Team were announced on Monday, August 3, with Notre Dame selected as the preseason favorite.
• A total of 13 players were named to the Preseason All-ACC Team, including 2025 first-team selections Mia Minestrella (Duke), Izzy Engle (Notre Dame), Annabelle Chukwu (Notre Dame) and Caroline Birkel (Stanford).
• Florida State earned the ACC's 27th national championship (24th since the ACC began sponsoring women's soccer) a season ago, bringing the total to 33 national championships among current ACC institutions. No school outside the ACC has won more than two championships.
• The Seminoles defeated Stanford, 1-0, in the 2025 national championship match, marking the second straight year that two ACC teams met for the national title and the third consecutive championship match featuring current ACC members.
• A total of 14 ACC standouts were named to the Hermann Trophy Watch List.
• Valentina Amaral (Wake Forest), Caroline Birkel (Stanford) and Victoria Safradin (Virginia) were named to the United Soccer Coaches Goalkeepers Watch List.
• Cameron Roller (Duke), Morgan Roy (Notre Dame) and Izzi Stratton (North Carolina) were named to the United Soccer Coaches Defenders Watch List.
• Sam Courtwright (Duke), Summer Denigan (North Carolina), Samantha Erbach (Florida State), Charlotte Kohler (Stanford), Y-Lan Nguyen (Stanford), Grace Restovich (Notre Dame) and Amelia Swinarski (Louisville) were named to the United Soccer Coaches Midfielders Watch List.
• Jade Bordeleau (NC State), Annabelle Chukwu (Notre Dame), Katie Shea Collins (Duke), Izzy Engle (Notre Dame), Juju Harris (Clemson), Ashley Henderson (Florida State), Wrianna Hudson (Florida State), Kylie Maxwell (Wake Forest), Mia Minestrella (Duke), Nyanya Touray (Florida State) and Bella Winn (Stanford) were named to the United Soccer Coaches Forwards Watch List.
