2025 ACC Women’s Soccer Season Kicks Off Thursday

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – The 2025 Atlantic Coast Conference women’s soccer season gets underway Thursday, August 14, with all 17 league programs in action. Thursday's matches mark the first contests of the ACC’s 2025-26 regular-season athletics calendar.

The ACC opens the campaign with eight teams in the Preseason United Soccer Coaches Poll, tied for the most in the country. The poll is headlined by an ACC team in the top four spots beginning with defending national champion North Carolina holding the top spots. The Tar Heels are followed by No. 2 Notre Dame, No. 3 Florida State, No. 4 Duke, No. 7 Stanford, No. 10 Wake Forest, No. 14 Virginia Tech and No. 15 Virginia. California and Clemson are currently receiving votes.

UNC also led the way in the annual Preseason ACC Coaches Poll, as it earned a conference-best 10 first-place votes. The Tar Heels also led the way with four players on the Preseason All-ACC Team, highlighted by returning Hermann Trophy winner Kate Faasse who led the country with 20 goals a season ago. Faasse was joined by teammates Tessa Dellarose, Olivia Thomas and Linda Ullmark.

Of the 14 players on this year’s Preseason All-ACC Team, 10 were named to the 2024 All-ACC team a year ago, including first-team selections Cameron Roller (Duke), Jordynn Dudley (Florida State), Kate Faasse (North Carolina), Izzy Engle (Notre Dame) and Leah Klenke (Notre Dame). Roller was named the ACC Defensive Player of the Year, while Engle was tabbed the ACC Freshman of the Year.

Last season, the Women’s College Cup was represented by four ACC teams for the first time in conference history. Since 2019, ACC teams have made 13 appearances in the College Cup, the most of any conference with the next closest being just five appearances. Current ACC membership has combined for 32 of the 43 national titles.

A total of 26 matches will be featured on ACC Network throughout the 2025 season, concluding with the first round and semifinals of the 2025 Ally ACC Women’s Soccer Championship beginning November 2. The championship match, which is set for Sunday, November 9, from First Horizon Stadium at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina, will be on ESPNU at noon ET.
