CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – As the opening month of the regular season draws to a close, Atlantic Coast Conference women’s soccer teams continue non-conference action on Thursday, August 27, with 25 matches scheduled throughout Sunday, August 30.
Thursday’s slate is highlighted by a top-25 matchup between top-ranked Stanford and No. 17 UCLA at 10:30 p.m. ET inside Cagan Stadium. Last season, the Bruins handed the Cardinal their first loss of the season, a 2-0 setback in Los Angeles. Stanford responded by beginning a 17-match unbeaten streak that included an ACC title and an appearance in the national championship match. Stanford last defeated UCLA on October 14, 2022, when both teams were members of the Pac-12 Conference.
After a pair of matchups on Saturday, August 29, Sunday’s schedule features 10 contests, including Virginia Tech visiting No. 22 Georgetown at 1 p.m. ET on ESPN+. The Hokies seek their first win over a ranked opponent since knocking off No. 17 Iowa in the third round of the 2024 NCAA Tournament.

Noting ACC Women’s Soccer
• The 40th season of ACC Women's Soccer got underway on Wednesday, August 12.
• The ACC continues to lead the nation with seven teams in the weekly IWSOC/United Soccer Coaches Poll, headlined by three teams in the top five and four in the top 10.
• The poll includes No. 1 Stanford, No. 2 Duke, No. 5 Wake Forest, No. 9 North Carolina, No. 13 Virginia, No. 16 Florida State and No. 25 Notre Dame. Clemson is receiving votes.
• Duke’s Mia Minestrella and Stanford’s Charlotte Kohler were named the ACC Co-Offensive Players of the Week, while Wake Forest defender Sierra Sythe was selected as the ACC Defensive Player of the Week. Syracuse’s Maya Naimoli was named the ACC Goalkeeper of the Week, and Miami striker Zoie Fontenot was named the ACC Freshman of the Week for matches played August 17-23.
• ACC teams have combined to win 42 matches and score 158 goals, both of which lead all conferences.
• The 2026 Preseason ACC Coaches Poll and All-ACC Team were announced on Monday, August 3, with Notre Dame selected as the preseason favorite.
• A total of 13 players were named to the Preseason All-ACC Team, including 2025 first-team selections Mia Minestrella (Duke), Izzy Engle (Notre Dame), Annabelle Chukwu (Notre Dame) and Caroline Birkel (Stanford).
• Florida State earned the ACC's 27th national championship (24th since the ACC began sponsoring women's soccer) a season ago, bringing the total to 33 national championships among current ACC institutions. No school outside the ACC has won more than two championships.
• The Seminoles defeated Stanford, 1-0, in the 2025 national championship match, marking the second straight year that two ACC teams met for the national title and the third consecutive championship match featuring current ACC members.
• Valentina Amaral (Wake Forest), Caroline Birkel (Stanford) and Victoria Safradin (Virginia) were named to the United Soccer Coaches Goalkeepers Watch List.
• Cameron Roller (Duke), Morgan Roy (Notre Dame) and Izzi Stratton (North Carolina) were named to the United Soccer Coaches Defenders Watch List.
• Sam Courtwright (Duke), Summer Denigan (North Carolina), Samantha Erbach (Florida State), Charlotte Kohler (Stanford), Y-Lan Nguyen (Stanford), Grace Restovich (Notre Dame) and Amelia Swinarski (Louisville) were named to the United Soccer Coaches Midfielders Watch List.
• Jade Bordeleau (NC State), Annabelle Chukwu (Notre Dame), Katie Shea Collins (Duke), Izzy Engle (Notre Dame), Juju Harris (Clemson), Ashley Henderson (Florida State), Wrianna Hudson (Florida State), Kylie Maxwell (Wake Forest), Mia Minestrella (Duke), Nyanya Touray (Florida State) and Bella Winn (Stanford) were named to the United Soccer Coaches Forwards Watch List.
