CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Heading into the final week before conference play begins, Atlantic Coast Conference women’s soccer action resumes on Thursday, September 3, with multiple top-25 matchups on the docket.
On Thursday, 16 of the league’s 17 teams return to the pitch, headlined by a pair of matchups between ranked teams. After not playing last week, No. 15 Florida State visits No. 25 Georgia at 6:30 p.m. ET on ESPNU, while No. 12 Virginia welcomes No. 10 Tennessee for a 7 p.m. ET kickoff on ACC Network Extra. Both Florida State and Virginia are seeking their first wins over ranked opponents of the season.
Another top-25 matchup is on deck for Sunday, September 6, when No. 5 Wake Forest travels to No. 21 Florida for a noon ET start on SEC Network Extra. The Demon Deacons, along with Stanford, are two of just seven teams nationally that have yet to allow a goal this season. The ACC is the only power conference with multiple teams that fit that criterion.
Conference play begins on Thursday, September 10, when California heads to North Carolina.

Noting ACC Women’s Soccer
• The 40th season of ACC Women's Soccer got underway on Wednesday, August 12.
• The ACC has six teams in the latest IWSOC/United Soccer Poll, tied for the most in the nation.
• The poll includes No. 1 Stanford, No. 2 Duke, No. 5 Wake Forest, No. 9 North Carolina, No. 12 Virginia and No. 15 Florida State. Clemson, Notre Dame and Virginia Tech are receiving votes.
• NC State’s Jade Bordeleau and Virginia Tech’s Anna Weir were named the ACC Co-Offensive Players of the Week, while Stanford defender Sammy Smith was selected as the ACC Defensive Player of the Week. Clemson’s Nona Reason was named the ACC Goalkeeper of the Week, while Cardinal midfielder Sadie Leal-Schuman was named the ACC Freshman of the Week for matches played August 24-30.
• NC State’s Jade Bordeleau and Wake Forest’s Sierra Sythe were named to the TopDrawerSoccer Team of the Week.
• ACC teams have combined to win 62 matches and have posted a .799 winning percentage, with both figures leading the country.
• The 2026 Preseason ACC Coaches Poll and All-ACC Team were announced on Monday, August 3, with Notre Dame selected as the preseason favorite.
• A total of 13 players were named to the Preseason All-ACC Team, including 2025 first-team selections Mia Minestrella (Duke), Izzy Engle (Notre Dame), Annabelle Chukwu (Notre Dame) and Caroline Birkel (Stanford).
• Florida State earned the ACC's 27th national championship (24th since the ACC began sponsoring women's soccer) a season ago, bringing the total to 33 national championships among current ACC institutions. No school outside the ACC has won more than two championships.
• The Seminoles defeated Stanford, 1-0, in the 2025 national championship match, marking the second straight year that two ACC teams met for the national title and the third consecutive championship match featuring current ACC members.
• A total of 14 ACC standouts were named to the Hermann Trophy Watch List.
• Valentina Amaral (Wake Forest), Caroline Birkel (Stanford) and Victoria Safradin (Virginia) were named to the United Soccer Coaches Goalkeepers Watch List.
• Cameron Roller (Duke), Morgan Roy (Notre Dame) and Izzi Stratton (North Carolina) were named to the United Soccer Coaches Defenders Watch List.
• Sam Courtwright (Duke), Summer Denigan (North Carolina), Samantha Erbach (Florida State), Charlotte Kohler (Stanford), Y-Lan Nguyen (Stanford), Grace Restovich (Notre Dame) and Amelia Swinarski (Louisville) were named to the United Soccer Coaches Midfielders Watch List.
