This Week in ACC Men’s Golf

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Adding another team championship last week, Atlantic Coast Conference men’s golf continues Saturday, March 7, with five ACC teams competing at the 34th edition of The Hayt.

Virginia earned its second victory of the spring and third of the 2025-26 season, finishing 15-under-par (849) at the Southern Highlands Collegiate. The Cavaliers were led by Josh Duangmanee with a second-place finish at 8-under-par (-8).

Beginning Sunday, the Hayt tees off at Sawgrass Country Club in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. This year’s tournament features 16 teams, including eight in the top 25 of the latest Scoreboard Rankings. Last season, Duke turned in a second-place finish, while North Carolina’s David Ford placed second in the final individual standings.

ACC Notes
• The ACC has six teams ranked in the top 25 in the latest spring rankings by Scoreboard powered by Clippd (March 4): No. 1 Virginia, No. 17 North Carolina, No. 19 Georgia Tech, No. 20 Duke, No. 22 Stanford and No. 23 Notre Dame. Wake Forest (No. 27) and Louisville (No. 31) sit just outside the top 25.

• In the most recent Scoreboard powered by Clippd Individual Rankings (March 4), four ACC players are ranked in the top 12: No. 3 Ben James (Virginia), No. 4 Bryan Kim (Duke), No. 10 Josh Duangmanee (Virginia) and No. 12 Bryan Lee (Virginia).

• In the first spring Division I Bushnell/Golfweek Coaches Poll (March 6), six ACC teams were ranked in the top 25, headlined by No. 1 Virginia. Following the Cavaliers were No. 17 North Carolina, No. 19 Georgia Tech, No. 20 Duke, No. 21 Stanford and No. 23 Notre Dame. Florida State, Louisville and Wake Forest received votes. The next poll is set for Friday, March 27.

• This fall, ACC teams combined to win eight team titles, with Wake Forest being the only team to win multiple tournaments. So far this spring, ACC teams have combined to win four tournaments with Virginia winning twice.

• Individually, ACC players combined to win 11 medalist honors, as Boston College’s Markus Lam and Duke’s Bryan Kim are the only players with two individual titles. This spring, Wake Forest’s Tom Haberer is the lone player to win a tournament.

• Seven ACC men’s golf standouts were named to the 2025-26 Ben Hogan Award watch list: Ben James (Virginia), Bryan Kim (Duke), Bryan Lee (Virginia), Jacob Modleski (Notre Dame), Niall Sheils Donegan (North Carolina), William Sides (SMU) and Tyler Weaver (Florida State).

• For the first time in program history, Virginia won the 2025 ACC Men’s Golf Championship with a 3-2 victory over North Carolina in the match play final at The Club at Olde Stone in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

• A conference-record 12 ACC teams earned a spot in the 2025 NCAA Men’s Golf Regionals. It marked the 18th time in the past 19 years that at least eight ACC teams have earned regional bids.

• Five ACC teams advanced to the 2025 NCAA Men’s Golf Championships with Virginia advancing to the match-play final before falling to Oklahoma State, 3-2.
