CARY, N.C. (theACC.com) – Four teams punched their tickets to the quarterfinals on Thursday at the 2026 Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Tennis Championship, highlighted by three 4-3 matches and a late-night finish at Cary Tennis Park. No. 9 seed Stanford, No. 5 seed Miami, No. 10 seed Notre Dame and No. 6 seed California all advanced to Friday’s play.
No. 33 Stanford (13-9, 7-5 ACC) overcame the loss of the doubles point to edge No. 25 SMU (15-7, 7-5 ACC), 4-3. Trailing 3-1, the Cardinal got straight-set singles wins from Tianmei Wang and Emma Sun before Alyssa Ahn clinched the comeback with a three-set victory.
No. 32 Miami (14-6, 8-4 ACC) held off No. 63 Wake Forest (13-13, 4-8 ACC), 4-3, after sweeping the doubles point to take early control of the match. The Hurricanes added straight-set singles wins from Sebastianna Scilipoti at No. 4 and Sofia Rocchetti at No. 2, before Raquel Gonzalez clinched the match with a three-set win at the top spot.
No. 44 Notre Dame (18-8, 5-7 ACC) edged No. 24 Clemson (17-8, 7-5 ACC), 4-3, after sweeping the doubles point. The Irish picked up singles wins from Akari Matsuno at No. 2 and Jessica Kovalcik at No. 6, before Bianca Molnar secured the clincher with a three-set victory at No. 1. Clemson earned three singles points but could not overcome the early deficit.
Just before midnight, No. 21 California (12-6, 8-4 ACC) earned a 4-2 win over No. 14 seed Florida State, securing the doubles point with wins at Nos. 1 and 2 before closing out the match in singles. The Golden Bears got a straight-set win from Mao Mushika at No. 3, while Johanne Svendsen and Berta Passola Folch each battled to three-set victories to seal the match.
Quarterfinal action is set for Friday, April 17, with four matches split across two banks. Top-seeded Virginia (19-4, 12-0 ACC) opens against Stanford, while No. 4 seed Duke (17-6, 10-2 ACC) faces Miami in the 3:30 p.m. ET matches. In the evening session, No. 2 seed North Carolina (23-2, 11-1 ACC) takes on Notre Dame, and No. 3 seed NC State (19-7, 10-2 ACC) will face California.
One-day tickets are priced at $15 for adults (ages 18 and older) and $10 for children ages 17 and under and college students with a valid school ID. Admission is free for children 8 and under.
