Top Four Seeds Advance to Semifinals at 2026 ACC Women’s Tennis Championship

CARY, N.C. (theACC.com) – The top four seeds in No. 1 Virginia, No. 2 North Carolina, No. 3 NC State and No. 4 Duke each secured quarterfinal victories on Friday to advance to the semifinals of the 2026 Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Tennis Championship at Cary Tennis Park.

No. 7-ranked and top-seeded Virginia (20-4, 12-0 ACC) posted a 4-1 win over No. 33 Stanford (13-10, 7-5 ACC), using a strong doubles performance to set the tone. The Cavaliers claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3, then added singles victories from Annabelle Xu, Martina Genis Salas and Melodie Collard to clinch the match. Stanford’s lone point came from Monika Ekstrand at No. 1 singles.

No. 18 Duke (18-6, 10-2 ACC) rallied for a 4-2 victory over No. 32 Miami (14-7, 8-4 ACC) after dropping the doubles point. The Blue Devils responded in singles behind wins from Irina Balus, Aspen Schuman, Liv Hovde and Shavit Kimchi to secure the comeback.

In the evening session, No. 13 NC State (20-7, 10-2 ACC) earned a dominant 4-0 win over No. 21 California (12-7, 8-4 ACC). The Wolfpack captured the doubles point with victories on courts No. 1 and No. 3 and carried that momentum into singles, where Jasmine Conway, Lavinia Tanasie and Victoria Osuigwe each recorded straight-set wins to clinch the match.

No. 6 North Carolina (24-2, 11-1 ACC) rebounded from dropping the doubles point to defeat No. 44 Notre Dame (18-9, 5-7 ACC), 4-1. After winning at No. 1 doubles, the Tar Heels fell on the other two courts but responded with straight-set singles victories from Reese Brantmeier, Ange Oby Kajuru, Tatum Evans and Maddy Zampardo to advance.

Semifinal action is set for Saturday, April 18, with both matches beginning at 2 p.m. ET. Top-seeded Virginia faces No. 4 seed Duke on Bank 1 in a matchup airing on ACCNX, while No. 2 seed North Carolina takes on No. 3 seed NC State on Bank 2 with coverage available via PlaySight.
